Competition Categories
The competition covers the following design categories:
- Graduation cap and gown for female graduates.
- Academic gown for faculty members.
- Graduation bisht for male graduates.
- General Requirements for the Graduation Gown Design
- The design should comply with international standards for academic regalia while achieving a balance between academic tradition and Qatari national identity.
- The QU Golden Jubilee 2027 logo should be incorporated as one of the design elements, alongside the University's current visual identity.
- The design should be modern and contemporary while maintaining modesty and a formal academic appearance.
2. Faculty Academic Gown Requirements
- The design should be inspired by the visual identity of the female graduates' gown.
- The gown should include distinctive design elements that reflect the academic status of faculty members while maintaining a unified visual identity with the female graduates' gown.
3. Male Graduation Bisht Requirements
- The current bisht design should be maintained without major changes to its overall style or structure.
- Design development should be limited to the front closure and its decorative elements.
- The design should be inspired by the Qatari national identity and/or the QU identity.
Submission Requirements
Each submission must include:
- Designers may submit entries for one or more competition categories.
- Front and back views of the proposed design.
- A brief concept statement explaining the design and its sources of inspiration.
- Proposed colors and fabric specifications.
- A description of how the design reflects the Qatari national identity and QU’s identity.
- The design must be practical and suitable for production.
- Shortlisted participants will be required to submit a prototype or physical sample of their design.
- The winning designer shall transfer all intellectual property rights of the winning design to QU in accordance with the University's applicable procedures.
- QU reserves the right to request modifications to the winning design in coordination with the designer.
The deadline for submissions via the announced online link is Saturday, 25 July 2026.
