Sea & Ocean: Pearl Beading

Inspired by the Sea & Ocean theme of the Around the World exhibition, this hands-on adult workshop explores the history and cultural significance of pearls and their enduring role in jewellery. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of pearl beading before applying these techniques to create their own contemporary jewellery piece. Guided by Kaltham, Founder and Creative Director of Kaltham’s Pavilion, participants will experiment with different pearl and bead combinations, colours, and layouts while developing a design that reflects their own creative approach. The workshop combines cultural context with practical jewellery-making, giving participants an opportunity to explore pearls through both heritage and contemporary design. Each participant will leave with a completed piece created during the session.
